2024 was a very transformative year for the MOD! For the last 11 years, I have worked primarily as the only stylist in the business, with the exception of two booth renters and an assistant. When I decided to become a commission salon last year and hire employees, it was not a decision that I took lightly. I sought help from hairstyling coaches, salon owner's networking groups and financial and tax professionals, read books about CEO mindsets, joined local small business owners networking groups, went to seminars regarding social media and hair photography, and went to live hair education. Through all of this, I have started to hire a team of professionals based on personality, merit, desire to learn and grow, and people who want to be a part of a team. MOD is a very small and cozy space and I want you to know where my decision making was coming from as I decided to bring people into our little salon home. The next time you're in, you might notice that the salon feels a little more lively, and see some new faces and talent!
Without further ado, I want to introduce to you the team!
Casey: Owner/Stylist
Hi! I'm Casey and I began my hairstyling career in 2003 and have owned and operated MOD since 2013! I specialize in haircutting and really enjoy constructing looks that are unique, edgy, piecey, layered, fun and different & shapes that style themselves. Making people feel understood and heard at the salon and developing relationships with my clients is my passion. I strive to hear and understand my client's wishes and match their hair to their personality and lifestyle!
When I'm not working, you'll find me hanging out with my husband and 6 pets in my garden or creating plant based recipes! Check out what I'm up to at @caseyrazorqueen
Devita:Stylist
My name is Devita Foxman @vida.hairr, and in my free time, I love attending concerts and raves, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and exploring with my two daughters and girlfriend through day trips and swimming at the beach or pool. As a third generation hairdresser since 2012, I developed my passion for hair at my mom's salon, and I enjoy working with clients of all ages and genders. I strive to connect with everyone in my chair, ensuring they feel understood and confident about their service. From the soothing shampoo and scalp massage to engaging conversations or peaceful silence, my goal is for clients to leave feeling relaxed and empowered.
Vanessa: Jr, Stylist
Hi I'm Vanessa! Born and raised in sunny San Diego, I have a deep passion for creating beautiful, customized hair transformations. Whether you're looking for dimensional blonding, seamless highlights, bold vivids, luxurious extensions, or a fresh new cut, I bring an artistic touch and a keen eye for detail to every service. My goal is to make you look and feel your absolute best!
With degrees in Digital Photography and Liberal Arts, specializing in Creative and Applied Arts, I approach hair with both creativity and technical precision. Introducing: New Treatments!
We haven't previously focused a lot on hair treatments but it is definitely something that is asked about often! From reviving dry, itchy scalps, to hydrating crispy thirsty ends, we are rolling out new treatments that will help combat any hair issues.
These do take time to research and find the best ones to use, so it might take a few months to roll them all out, but this is our first treatment available:
Minerali Oil – a luxurious treatment straight from the Mediterranean, this five-minute service works wonders on your hair, restoring lost moisture and locking in color. In just the first two minutes, powerful, nutrient-rich ingredients deeply nourish your hair. Then, volcanic minerals like zinc, copper, magnesium, and manganese seal the cuticle, locking in those nutrients and giving your hair a healthy, shiny, and stronger look. It’s the perfect conditioning treatment, especially after a color or chemical service!
We are adding this onto any service for $25 right now as we are introducing these!
I'm cutting hair onstage!
Another exciting bit of news to share is that I've been invited to cut hair onstage in front of about 200 people at the end of March! I started out my career doing some work onstage and absolutely loved it, so I am so excited to share that this dream is coming true! It is open to the public! The Kensington Club in Kensington, San Diego, is opening up especially for us and offering drinks for $5 that night. Admission is $30 and comes with one free drink! I would love to see you there!
Upcoming Event: A Night of Beauty!
We have had an awesome opportunity to partner with a local Med Spa, Transformative Wellness, located by Brengle Terrace Park in Vista. They offer injections like Botox and filler, weight loss injections, IV therapies (including one for hair, skin and nails) NAD+ treatments, spray tanning, body contouring, laser treatments, facials- you name it, they do it. I really like that they are on the forefront of using the cleanest products they can and they keep their work looking as natural as possible, according to the owner, Michelle. She and I recently sat down and are excited to be working on an event that we will hold at the salon called A Night of Beauty where we will host the doctors and nurses from Transformative Wellness and everyone that attends will receive group pricing that night and be able to do all of your beauty services in a familiar place, with friends and food and wine!
I would also love to have an area set up where you can bring your hair tools in that you don't know how to use and we will give you lessons, using your tools, on how to use them at home. If that is something that would interest you, please let me know.
We are aiming at the end of April for this event! More details will follow
I am so excited that MOD is growing, growing, growing! We are aiming for the stars, but it's ok if we go higher!
